Build On DIMO - June 2024

June 19, 2024

It’s June already and time for a new edition of Build on DIMO! In case you missed DIMO at Consensus and AutoTech Detroit in real life, here are some of the updates on the DIMO Developer Platform.

Some of you might recall that in the last edition of Build on DIMO, there was a sneak peek into an end-to-end Developer Licensing experience. Today, let’s look at what is up and coming in detail:

Seamless Sign Up / Login

Sign up or log in with Google, GitHub, or with your own web3 wallet. The first version of DIMO Developer Console will come with these three popular login options.

Developer Onboarding

Connect your wallet and create Developer Licenses, the console will guide you through the on-chain interactions.

Configure your App

Configure your redirect URIs and trusted signers on the console for any created applications. This is your gateway to getting DIMO API access regardless of which authentication flow you’re taking.

Add DIMO Credits to your Account

Topping up your developer account with DIMO Credits (DCX) will be up next as the console is designed to support paying through web3 wallets or your typical payment methods (VISA, Mastercard, etc).

As the central hub for web3 interactions, the wallet is a key piece to security and reliability. Knowing that the wallet is a major pain point for user experience, DIMO is developing a Wallet as a Service (WaaS) integration. WaaS is a seamless account provisioning and login experience for the developers and end users. Developers will be able to implement a managed-wallet experience through a simple integration.

In the near future, we’ll provide templates for how developers can offer one-time payments or subscriptions to customers in the marketplace, without worrying about interacting with the blockchain.

DIMO’s latest Ford integration comes with an expanded dataset that enhances the overall vehicle management and monitoring capabilities. With this improvement, you can now access crucial battery information about your Mach-E such as the state of health (SoH), the state of charge (SoC), high-voltage battery temperature and voltage, and the temperature at the battery coolant inlet.

Further deepening the insights, you can now monitor the RPM, the interior temperature of the cabin, odometer reading, or even gear selection. These enhancements not only allow you to keep a closer eye on the performance and health of your Mach-E but also enable developers to build creative solutions such as a Pet App to be used across different EV platforms so we can keep our furry family safe and cool at all times.

To top it off, more Korean EVs are showing progress through AutoPi connections. You can now get signals like battery temperature, fast charge count, standard charge count, SoC, SoH, battery work time (in hours), and throttle position.

Hyundai

IONIQ 5, IONIQ 6, Niro EV 2023, Kona EV 2023

Kia

EV6, EV9

Genesis

GV60, GV70 EV, G80 Electrified

What’s next on vehicle decoding? DIMO is tackling getting more EV signals from the Volkswagen Group and more ICE vehicles. 😎

Telemetry API Updates

Continuous update on the hottest API in town, DIMO Engineering worked with our community to make querying vehicle data more efficient and reliable. Customized aggregation is now responding faster than ever. Reach out to us to learn more about data availability and how the Telemetry API can help with your product and service.

Trips API Updates

Upgrading the Trips API further, it now returns the latitude and longitude on the start and the end of each trip. An estimated location for trip start is also there to facilitate capturing data in consideration of potential signal losses between trips.

Stream Data with Ease

DIMO Streams is how a Developer can subscribe to a constant feed of vehicle data. The DIMO Developer SDK now supports streaming, simply download the new version of the SDK to get started.
